I have always been a big fan of FLASH. It is an amazing internet enabeling technology.
However, like any seasoned Web developer, I must admit FLASH has its place. For example, its not well suited for use as a full SITE. It is suited as a application platform.
Flex is Adobe’s attempt to make a development platform to make applications for the web based on the flash player. It is extremly good, in my opinion, for creating good usable applications that work over the Internet in a not time at all.
I am very surprised it is not more evident then I general see when surfing.
Follow this link to a web recording that shows of a FLEX application I wrote as an example of how I see it being used..

I would also like to note that Microsoft also see this as the future, as there full development team for DOT.NET are working on a new product called “silverlight” which is essentially a copy of flash, but in some ways better, in others, not so much.
Still, I will be looking deeper into silverlight myself. It has definite speed advantages, even over the latest FLASH and actionscript3.
