Apple pushes Safari, what’s next the full OSX-OS?

March 22nd, 2008 · No Comments

Like many, I am shocked that Apple would auto install their Safari browsers in a QuickTime update.  This could be considered by some as raping your computer.

This is a horrible trend.  Imagine what this can lead to.  Today a browser, tomorrow, the full OS!  Imagine you wake up in the morning.  Login, and find yourself using OSX!

Personally this is only a crack in the real philosophy of apple.  It is a listed company with profit on its mind.  I agree with its philosophy of, “Giving people what they want” as a way to archive market share.  But at some stage, what the market does and what Apple wants will not go to plan. This to me is a big sign of that.

Safari must be an important piece in Apple’s/Steve’s plans.  This is a controversial move that goes against its portrayed philosophy.  To me it is going too far.  Still, I believe Apple will bring it back inline soon after everyone has done the auto update and installed Safari.  By that time the damage will have be done, and Safari will wiggle its way onto as many computers as Firefox.

Mozilla/Firefox is obviously outraged. And some would consider, this is the first time Apple could be subject to an Anti-trust complaint.
